She watched the gears turning behind his eyes, and AJ knew it was only a matter of time, right? She had risen to her feet as she explained that her mom didn’t know where she was, staring over at him with puppy eyes. While standing, AJ was just about the same height as he was sitting in his fancy office chair. It made her feel like a little kid, and normally that would bother her, but she hoped it would work to her advantage in this situation.
"Chew you out, you deserve a good thwack to your arse is more like it. I'm too bloody ol' for this." He sighed, rubbed his temples, then laughed. AJ frowned, crossing her arms. "Well done th'ugh -- I wouldn't h've been able to sneak nuffin' by your mum." AJ grinned broadly at this. She took pride in her work, she was definitely the prankster in the family. Street smarts, those were important, too!
"So, whatcha ya come to tell me... ya Mum isn't sick is she?"
AJ threw up her arms and let out an over dramatic sigh, her small body falling into the large chair as she did so, a groan escaping her lips. “Worse!” she exclaimed as she fell, blowing her hair out of her face, though it didn’t help much. “She’s getting married.” she complained, her voice a little whiney. “David whatever. He’s so annoying, you’ve gotta talk her out of it!” she began, getting a bit ahead of herself. She sighed, slumping into the chair, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. As much as she wanted to believe she was grown up, she was still such a child.
